Glenn Beard joined the fellowship at First Baptist Church Leander in April 2022. An
ordained deacon, he currently serves as Director of the Young Adult Ministry and holds
dual roles as Dean of Students and Security Chief for First Baptist Academy. Mr. Beard
has a strong background in teaching apologetics and promoting the study of Scripture.
He is dedicated to highlighting the authority and reliability of God’s word and guiding
young adults in developing Christian worldviews grounded in biblical principles. His
extensive experience extends to teaching and mentoring children, youth, and adults
over several decades.

A retired Army Officer, Mr. Beard, served a combined thirty-four years with the Texas
Army National Guard and the Active Army. He led multiple complex military
organizations in high-risk environments, with deployments to Germany, Bosnia, Iraq,
and four tours in Afghanistan. He has completed multiple advanced Army training
courses and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in
Political Science and History from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he received
his Army commission in 1987. Glenn is married to Blanca, who serves as Food Service
Director for both the church and academy. They have six adult children and eight
grandchildren, with one more on the way.
